What a sweet moment; Avalanche shut down Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks, and Nathan MacKinnon reaches 100 points! MacKinnon entered the game needing just two points to reach the century mark, and he got them. Point #99 came in the second period via an assist, and the late goal in the third period was Point #100. Before last season, MacKinnon never had a 100-point season; in fact, before last season, his career high for points in a season was 99! MacKinnon's 100 points only trails the Tampa Bay Lightning's Nikita Kucherov (104) for the league lead. The player who finishes the season with the most points gets the Art Ross Trophy, and MacKinnon's attempting to become only the second player in the combined history of the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche to win the Ross, joining only Peter Forsberg on that very short list.
