CEDAvsFan Posted January 8 Posted January 8 https://www.nhl.com/news/topic/winter-classic/nhl-outdoor-games-in-miami-and-tampa-big-step-for-nhl-and-florida-fans WOW! This is absolutely epic!! For one, Florida is a warm weather state, and they're going to host not one, but TWO outdoor games! Secondly, one of them is the Winter Classic! Now, I remember when this whole outdoor game thing started a long time ago, and my first thought: "There's no way they do this in California." Yet ten years ago, Stadium Series games took place at Dodger Stadium in LA, and at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. All they had to do was create the cold-enough atmosphere to get it done. Stadium Series games have been in "warm weather" states before, but not the Winter Classic--until this announcement. A Winter Classic game in a tropical state like Florida is EPIC, and I think it will lead to either the Ducks, Kings, or Sharks hosting a Winter Classic game down the line. 2
Geoffrey Dodson Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Florida's making the right call in hosting two outdoor games for next year. It should lift up everybody's spirits plenty over there.
Kilo Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Is it really a good idea for a warm weather state to host 2 outdoor hockey games?
