Ponte Vedra man sentenced to life in prison for stabbing ex-girlfriend and two others

A St. Johns County courtroom was packed Friday, as a 20-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Madison Schemitz, who was in high school at the time, her mother and a good Samaritan who intervened in the incident outside of a Ponte Vedra Beach restaurant in 2023. 

Spencer Pearson deserves to rot in prison.

During Pearson's father's testimony, he told the courtroom Pearson started playing tackle football at six years old and stopped playing at 18. He said Pearson was hit in the head "roughly 10,000" times over the course of the 12 years he played football, and said he made the calculation based on "the number of games, number of practices" his son had.

It sickens me that Spencer Pearson's father is making excuses for his demon son.

I am proud of Madison Schemitz for advocating for life in prison for Spencer Pearson. She has shown so much courage in her ordeal.
